Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembers Ambedkar’s ‘exemplary service’ to the country

A floral tribute was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar at the Parliament House Complex in New Delhi by President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It was Ambedkar’s “exemplary service” to the nation that PM Modi remembered. I salute Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas and remember what he did for our country. “His struggles gave hope to millions, and he gave India such a comprehensive constitution,” PM Modi tweeted.

Vice-President Dhankhar said Ambedkar was a great social reformer who tried to end caste inequality and cared deeply for the oppressed. In his words, “the nation is indebted to him for guiding the Constitution.”.

The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also remembered Ambedkar with a quote on Twitter: “I want everyone to be Indian first, Indian last, and nothing else but Indian”.

There were floral tributes paid to Ambedkar’s statue in Mumbai by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the president of Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi Prakash Ambedkar among others. Thousands of people are expected at the Chaityabhoomi in Dadar for the event.

On social media, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann paid tribute to Ambedkar.

During Mahaparinirvan Diwas on December 6, we remember Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, who died on this day.
