The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notice stating that he was disqualified from the Parliament as of March 23, the day of his conviction. Now, Rahul Gandhi must petition a higher court to vacate his conviction.

The opposition MPs conducted a brief meeting in the office of the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, before marching to the Rashtrapati Bhavan with signs reading “democracy is in peril.” In light of the demonstration, security was heightened in the Vijay Chowk area.

This morning, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Lok Sabha. Congress leaders rushed to the well of the House, requesting that he be granted permission to speak. Afterwards, the Lok Sabha was adjourned.
