Sania Mirza is the first Muslim woman to fly a fighter jet for the IAF.

Sania Mirza, the first Muslim woman in the nation to be chosen to join the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot, would encourage every girl in the community to pursue her goals, according to her mother (IAF). According to the news agency ANI, Sania, who is from the Uttar Pradesh town of Jasovar, will be the first female IAF pilot from that region.

“Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi encouraged me, and after watching her, I made the decision to join the NDA. Sania Mirza said on ANI, “I hope I will someday inspire the next generation.

According to Sania’s father Shahid Ali, a TV mechanic in Mirzapur, “Avani Chaturvedi was always an inspiration to her, and she always wanted to be like her.”

On December 27, Sania will join NDA Khadakwalsa in Pune.

The Ministry of Defence decided to permanently implement a trial programme for allowing female pilots in the IAF earlier this year. However, the “Induction of Women SSC officers in Fighter Stream of Flying Branch” programme didn’t start until 2016. The Defense Ministry had approved permitting women to join the Air Force as fighter pilots in 2015.

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh, the first Indian woman to fly a Rafale fighter jet, brought attention to female fighter pilots when she was spotted on the Air Force’s tableau during the Republic Day parade. Her predecessor in the Republic Day parade, Flight Lieutenant Bhawna Kanth, who participated in the Air Force’s tableau in 2021, was the first female fighter pilot.

2020 saw a significant increase in the number of women enlisting in the military thanks to the Supreme Court’s involvement, which permitted them to enrol in the National Defense Academy, which produces officers for the three armed services.
