In a statement on Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel achieved the dream of a united and strong India through his foresight, despite attempts by some forces to keep the country divided.
In addition, Shah expressed the hope that India will be able to realize the dream of its freedom fighters of becoming a strong and prosperous nation and celebrating its 100th anniversary of independence in the next 25 years.
He flagged off a run in the national capital to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of India’s first home minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“Some forces attempted to keep India divided even during that period.
By his political acumen and farsightedness, Sardar Patel brought Junagarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Hyderabad under the umbrella of the Union of India,” he said.
Participants in the ‘Run for Unity, which began from the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, included sports personalities, enthusiasts, and police officers.
Shah also paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the bridge collapse in Gujarat on Sunday.
