Seven charged after two Moosewala murder suspects were slain in prison

Seven convicts of the Goindwal Sahib Central Jail in Punjab’s Tarn Taran region were charged with the murder of two individuals held in connection with the death of singer Sidhu Moosewala on Monday, according to authorities.

“According to jail officials, seven convicts have been charged with assaulting their fellow inmates. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, a senior superintendent of police (SSP), stated that these suspects would be questioned on a production warrant to determine the exact cause of the conflict.

Mandeep Singh alias Toofan, a resident of Batala, and Manmohan Singh alias Mohna, a resident of Budhlada in Bhatinda, were identified as the deceased.

Keshav, another accomplice of the slain gangsters, was hurt in the event on Sunday at 3.30 p.m., according to a jail official with knowledge of the situation.

Early inquiry revealed that the three victims were members of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and that they were assaulted by prisoners who are also implicated in the Moosewala murder case but who are members of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang.

Police officials said that two more detainees were hospitalised late Sunday night with injuries sustained in the jail brawl.

Monday’s arrests included Manpreet Bhau, Sachin Bhiwani, Ankit, Kashish, Rajinder, Arshad Khan, and Malvin Singh, all members of the Bishnoi gang. The inmates were booked at the Goindwal Sahib police station under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) and several articles of the Prisons Act.

The violent confrontation on Sunday prompted prison officials to separate 18 inmates from the two gangs and transport them to five separate jails. The SSP stated that both gang members had been separated.

The prisoners were sent to jails at Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Roop Nagar, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar.
