Supreme Court refuses to interfere in High Court’s decision to grant bail to the PDP leader

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to interfere with the bail granted to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed your Rehman Para, who has been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for alleged terrorism-related offences by the High Court. A case was registered under Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

“On hearing the learned counsel for the parties, we would not like to interfere in the aspect of the grant of bail, but we are certainly not giving our effect to any comment that may come up in the impugned order about the interpretation of UAPA. The special leave petition is dismissed with the above clarifications”, a bench of Justices S K Kaul and A S Oka said.
