The Congress has hinted that Mallikarjun Kharge will continue to lead the opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

For the first time, the Congress signalled Saturday that Mallikarjun Kharge would remain Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha for some time. After submitting his nomination for the post of Congress president to Sonia Gandhi on September 30, Kharge submitted his resignation. A ‘one person, one post’ policy was adopted at the Udaipur Chintan Shivir in keeping with the party’s ‘one person, one post’ policy.
Several leaders are reportedly lobbying for the position of Rajya Sabha Opposition leader, but Kharge has yet to choose his successor. Jairam Ramesh, Congress leader, said the issue was not discussed at the Congress meeting on Saturday. In a gesture that suggests Kharge will hold two positions, Ramesh said Kharge would hold talks with other Opposition parties in both his role as Congress president and his “capacity” as Leader of the Opposition.
