The government has blocked a Pak-based OTT platform

Government authorities on Monday ordered the blocking of a Pakistan-based OTT platform’s website, two mobile applications, four social media accounts, and smart TV app, saying one of the series it was showing was detrimental to India’s national security and integrity.

During the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Vidly TV released a web series titled “Sevak: The Confessions” which was found to compromise the safety, sovereignty, and integrity of the country, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The web series has been released in three episodes so far.

In a tweet, Kanchan Gupta, senior adviser at the ministry, said the action against Pakistan-based Vidly TV was in response to the assessment that the provocative and wholly untrue web-series “Sevak” was sponsored by the Pakistani information operations apparatus.

An anti-India narrative was presented in the web-series regarding sensitive historical events and national issues such as Operation Blue Star, the demolition of the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya, the killing of Graham Staines, the Malegaon blasts, the Samjhauta Express blasts, and the inter-state river water dispute related to the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal.
