The Union is making substantial infrastructure investments in Uttarakhand: Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Monday that the federal government is investing extensively in Uttarakhand’s infrastructure to ensure that young people from the state who have gone to large cities for employment will return to their villages in the hills and find employment.

Addressing a Rozgar mela via video-conferencing, Modi stated that the amrit kaal (the period until the centennial of India’s independence in 2047) is a time of limitless opportunities for the country’s youth, and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments at the Centre and in the state are working to ensure that everyone in Uttarakhand receives a job commensurate with their skills.

The Rozgar Mela is a recruitment campaign to offer one million individuals with employment by filling current vacancies against sanctioned posts in mission mode, according to a press release issued by the Union government in October, when the effort was begun.

“Pahad ka pani and pahad ki jawani pahad ke kam nahin aate (the water and the youth of the hills are never of any help to them).

“We must abandon this outdated notion,” he stated. “Because of this, the central government is always working to guarantee that young people in Uttarakhand return to their communities. In response, new work and self-employment opportunities are being developed in the hills,” he explained.

“Now, you can observe the construction of multiple highways and railroad lines. Hence, significant investments are being made on Uttarakhand’s infrastructure. As a result, travel to remote villages is getting easier. Hence, a substantial number of jobs are being created,” he added.

The Prime Minister said, “Whether in building, engineering, raw materials-based businesses, or even retail, employment prospects are expanding everywhere. Due to a rise in demand in the transportation industry, young people are receiving new chances. Historically, for these types of jobs, rural residents were required to relocate to the city. Today, tens of thousands of young people work in community service centres that provide internet access and digital services to every hamlet.”

Modi stated that the remote regions of Uttarakhand are being connected by road, rail, and the internet, which is aiding the rise of the tourism industry. “New locations are gaining prominence on the tourism map. Thus, the youth of Uttarakhand are now able to find career prospects close to their homes for which they would have previously had to migrate to a large city,” he said.

Modi stated that the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (credit programme) plays a significant role in increasing employment and self-employment prospects in the tourism industry.

“To date, 38 billion Mudra loans have been granted across the country. Around eight billion young people have become entrepreneurs for the first time, he noted.

Modi stated that unguaranteed loans of up to 1,000,000 are being provided to young people so that they can open stores, dhabas, guest homes, and home stays, adding, “it is an amrit kaal of unlimited opportunities for the country’s youth.”

“Both the federal and state governments led by the BJP are working to guarantee that every young person finds a job that matches his aptitudes and skills,” he said.

The chief minister of the state, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated that the state administration is conducting a drive to fill empty positions in several sectors. He stated that his government is devoted to ensuring the youth’s bright future.

“Some individuals are discussing delaying the tests. We must ensure, however, that young people do not waste their precious time. Hence, all recruiting exams are administered on schedule. We enacted an anti-copying statute to guarantee the integrity of all recruitment examinations. It is the strictest law in the nation,” he remarked, referring to the ordinance-enacted bill passed earlier this month.

Many paper leaks shocked the hill state, forcing unemployed hopefuls in Dehradun to take to the streets in protest, which led to the introduction of the law. The state education minister, Dhan Singh Rawat, also delivered a speech at the Rozgar Mela.
