The YSR Telangana Party has requested that the CBI investigate allegations of corruption in the Kaleswaram irrigation project

In a meeting with CBI director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal on Friday, YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila demanded a probe into the alleged irregularities and corruption surrounding the Rs 1.20 lakh crore Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana.
Despite Nirmala Sitharaman and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat pointing out alleged irregularities in this project, Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, also attacked the BJP for not investigating the case.
The CBI director will assign a DIG rank officer to investigate the corruption involved in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). Sharmila told reporters that she would file a writ petition if nothing were done.
According to the YSRTP chief, alleged irregularities in the project collected through RTI filings led to the escalation of the project’s cost from Rs 38,000 crore to more than Rs 1.20 lakh crore.
Although the project has been officially completed and inaugurated at several locations, the system as a whole has not produced the desired results, according to her.
Sharmila also stated that the KLIP had been financed to a large extent by a combination of loans from PFC, REC Ltd, PNB Consortium, NABARD, Union Bank of India Consortium and Bank of Baroda. In this project, these institutions have provided a loan in the amount of almost Rs 1 lakh crore.
