UP court receives complaint against Rahul for Savarkar remarks

A complaint has been filed against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly uttering disrespectful comments against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Maharashtra lately.
In an order issued on Friday, the additional chief judicial magistrate A K Srivastava instructed the complainant Nripendra Pandey to present evidence pursuant to section 200 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Once he examines himself and his witnesses in accordance with section 202 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the court will decide whether or not to take cognizance of the offences and issue Gandhi a summons.
The court scheduled the next hearing for January 9.
Pandey had submitted an application under section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code requesting filing a FIR against Gandhi. However, the court denied Pandey’s request and instead recorded the case as a complaint.
Gandhi, according to Pandey, made derogatory remarks against Savarkar.
