25-year-old Assam woman kills her husband with a knife after he hits her.

In Silchar, Assam, a 25-year-old woman has been arrested on charges that she killed her 30-year-old husband with a knife on Tuesday night. Police said the woman’s husband hit her when he was drunk, and she stabbed him with scissors in response.

The wife’s name is Mampi Begum, and she lives in the Meherpur area of Silchar. Farmin Uddin Barbhuiya was an autorickshaw driver. He was her late husband.

When she took her hurt husband to Silchar Medical College and Hospitals (SMCH), the police stopped her.

Numal Mahatta, the superintendent of police (SP) for the Cachar district, said that when the injured body arrived at SMCH, doctors called the police.

“He had deep cuts in important parts of his body, which killed him within a few hours of what happened. “Our people went to SMCH and arrested the wife when they found her there,” Mahatta said.

He said that the wife later admitted to her crime and said that her husband used to torture her almost every day.

“She told the police that her husband hit her on Tuesday night, so she hit him with scissors to defend herself. We are looking into it more to find out what happened,” Mahatta told HT on Wednesday.

The couple has two kids and used to rent a house in the Meherpur neighbourhood of Kabiura. Their neighbours said that almost every night there were fights in their house.

A woman from the area told the media that the husband and wife had fights that sometimes turned violent.

“We heard screams last night, and it sounded like they were fighting violently. “But later, we saw that they were taking the husband’s bloody, unconscious body to the hospital,” a neighbour said.

At first, the doctors at SMCH tried to help Farmin Uddin, but he died within an hour. “His body was full of deep cuts, and he lost too much blood. “We tried to save him, but he died while he was being treated,” a doctor said.

The police said that they had filed a case against Mampi Begum, and now that she has been arrested, she is being questioned at the Silchar Sadar Police Station.
