Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma blames the leak of Class 10 board exam papers on the government’s failure.

Although admitting that the Assam Class 10 board exam papers leak was a government failure, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in the state Legislature on Thursday that the mastermind behind the leak had been identified.

Police said on Tuesday that three people were arrested and 22 others were detained for interrogation concerning the Assam High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC) exam question paper leak case. The three arrested include the headmistress of a government school in Guwahati, a teacher, and a grade four employee.

According to Assam DGP GP Singh, 22 individuals, including students, have been held from various parts of the state, including Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.

The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) issued a notification late Sunday (March 12) night cancelling the General Science paper of the HSLC examination planned for 9 a.m. on Monday (March 13), after photographs of a handwritten version of the question paper circulated.

The board stated that it had launched an investigation into the incident. Assam Criminal Investigation Department is conducting the criminal probe (CID).

According to SEBA, the cancelled exam will now be held on March 30.

On Monday, the Assam legislature was rocked when Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia introduced an adjournment motion to discuss the subject. Speaker Biswajit Daimary, on the other hand, barred any discussion.
