Simona Halep will not play in 2022 after nose surgery

In order to improve her breathing, two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep had nose surgery.

Her Twitter post on Thursday said she was “completely exhausted” after losing in the first round to qualifier Daria Snigur at the US Opened last month. Her breathing issues have been bothering her “for many years” and were getting worse, so she decided to get an operation.

In her tweet, Halep showed a picture of her nose bandaged.”I thought it was the right time and I wanted to take care of myself.”

It’s been an interesting year, 2022!” wrote Halep, who won Wimbledon and the French Open last year. I’ll see you on the court in 2023! My tennis game still needs some work and I still have some goals.”
