Himanta Biswa Sarma writes to Eknath Shinde and requests an apology from the Maha Legislator for his “stray dog” remark.

Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote to his counterpart in the western state, requesting that the comment be retracted in response to Maharashtra Lawmaker Bachchu Kadu’s claimed to demand that stray canines be brought to Assam.

Sarma stated in the letter, which he tweeted that he and the people of Assam were “dismayed” by the remark.

“Together with the people of Assam, I am profoundly disturbed and angered by the MLA’s remarks, which have exposed his biases and ignorance on our state’s culture. Sarma wrote: “I am confident that you would fully understand the feelings of the Assamese people in this matter.”

The CM requested Shinde to advise Kadu to retract his remarks and issue a statement of sorrow to the press.

According to reports, Kadu recommended in the Maharashtra Assembly that stray dogs be shipped to Assam to manage their expanding number, as natives in the northeastern state consume them.

On the opening day of the present assembly session in Assam on March 10, opposition MLAs disrupted the governor’s speech and staged a walkout in response to the problem.

The AIUDF asked that Kadu be summoned to the house and compelled to apologise, while the Congress questioned the government’s “inaction” in the subject.

Akhil Gogoi, an independent lawmaker, stated that the subject should have been addressed in the governor’s address.
