Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated while addressing a Rozgar Mela on Friday, that a government official’s mantra should be “the citizen is always right.”
“Just as you may have heard the slogan ‘the customer is always right’ in business, the mantra for the government service should be ‘the citizen is always right,'” he told recruits via video conference following the distribution of approximately 71,426 job letters to various government departments.
Modi stated that over the past few years, the recruitment procedure for government employees has grown less cumbersome and free of old obstacles. “The recruitment process has been simplified and made more open. He stated that an open and unambiguous recruitment procedure rewards merit and skill.
Modi stated that the current Rozgar Mela activities had become a symbol of his administration. This demonstrates that it accomplishes its goals, he noted.
Last year, the Prime Minister announced the Rozgar Mela initiative to provide employment for 10 million people. On Friday, he underlined that numerous states where the BJP and its partners are in power have also been organising these job fairs. He predicted that more states would organise them soon.
“Employment in the government sector is referred to as ‘government service’ and not simply ’employment,'” he said, adding that recruits should view this not as the end of a trip but as the beginning of their opportunity to serve India’s one hundred billion citizens.
Following a live online conversation with several candidates from Kashmir, Bengal, Telangana, and Manipur, the Prime Minister highlighted that a significant proportion of recruits come from households with no government employees.
Modi stated that significant infrastructure investments had increased job and self-employment options. He noted that when development grows rapidly, self-employment options increase rapidly as well. “You must have seen that when a new roadway is built, a number of businesses also appear nearby. The same is true when a new railroad line is constructed, he noted.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Rozgar Mela is expected to serve as a catalyst for the creation of more jobs and provide important possibilities for the youth’s empowerment and participation in national development.
The new recruits, selected from across the country, will fill positions such as junior engineer, loco pilot, technician, inspector, sub-inspector, constable, stenographer, junior accountant, grameen dak sevak, Income Tax inspector, teacher, nurse, doctor, and social security officer, among others, within the Central government.
