UP Chief Secretary reviews Noida airport progress

Uttar Pradesh Races to Complete Noida International Airport by 2024 Target

The Uttar Pradesh government is pushing ahead at full speed to have the much-anticipated Noida International Airport ready by September 2024. On Friday, UP Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra conducted an inspection of the airport construction site and urged developers to meet the tight timeline for completion of the first phase.

Mishra held talks with Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann and other officials overseeing the airport’s development. He emphasized the need to accelerate work to finish core infrastructure and facilities to allow the airport to open on schedule in 2024.

To boost connectivity to the forthcoming airport, construction also kicked off on a key interchange connecting the Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, located near the airport site. The Rs. 122 crore interchange, which will feature multiple ramps and loops allowing smooth traffic flow between the two expressways, is targeted for completion before the first flights take off from Noida International.

The new interchange will enable easier airport access for travelers not just from neighboring districts like Ghaziabad and Meerut, but also far-flung cities across UP such as Agra, Mathura, Firozabad and Hathras.

As development progresses rapidly on multiple fronts, the state government continues to view the Noida International Airport as a landmark project and strategic priority for Uttar Pradesh. By overseeing progress in person, officials aim to ensure its infrastructure is ready for smooth operations by the intended 2024 deadline.
