In Agra, a woman has been allegedly raped and a man has been arrested; a second individual is on the lam.
On Saturday, police said that they had arrested a 20-year-old man who they say raped a woman with another man in a village in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh.
They also said that it happened on the night of February 13 when the woman left her house to get medicine for her sick sister. Police say that the other suspect, who is 60 years old, is still on the run.
The woman’s brother filed a complaint on February 16, which led to the filing of a FIR.
The police say that the person who was killed is 30 years old. “On February 13, she went to the market at night to buy medicine for her sick sister. She asked the two people on trial to take her to the closest pharmacy, but they allegedly took her to an empty house and raped her instead. “They also told her that if she told anyone about what happened, they would kill her family,” said a police officer.
“The accused is said to have let the woman talk to her brother on their phone in the morning, then ran away. Later, the victim’s brother got to the scene and brought the victim’s sister home. The brother filed a police report (FIR) against the two suspects. “We’ve caught one of the suspects, and we’re running raids to catch the other,” said the head of the police station in question.
