New Delhi: In a groundbreaking moment for Indian cinema, ‘To Kill a Tiger,’ a documentary set in a humble Indian village, has clinched a coveted nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the upcoming 2024 Academy Awards.

Directed by Delhi-born filmmaker Nisha Pahuja, who stands as an Emmy-nominated luminary based in Toronto, ‘To Kill a Tiger’ emerged into the limelight after its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022. The film not only captured hearts but also secured the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film.

Pahuja’s creation delves into the gripping narrative of Ranjit, a father embroiled in an arduous quest for justice after his 13-year-old daughter falls victim to abduction and sexual assault by three assailants.

“Ranjit goes to the police, and the men are arrested. But Ranjit’s relief is short-lived, as the villagers and their leaders launch a sustained campaign to force the family to drop the charges.
