PM Modi inaugurates Buldelkhand Expressway today: All you need to know

Bundelkhand Expressway is a four-lane expressway designed to expand to six lanes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will inaugurate the 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway, which will connect Chitrakoot in the undeveloped Bundelkhand region with the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Etawah. This is the fourth expressway of Uttar Pradesh. See what’s included:

What is the Bundelkhand Expressway?

The Bundelkhand Expressway has been completed within 28 months, which is eight months ahead of its deadline. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for this project in February 2020.

Bundelkhand Expressway is a four-lane expressway designed to expand to six lanes. Covering six districts Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Mahoba, Banda and Hamirpur, the expressway will terminate at Gonda village near Bharatkoot area of ​​Chitrakoot district in Bundelkhand. There will also be a service lane of 3.75 meters wide on one side.

The expressway will have four rail bridges along with 286 minor bridges and 18 major bridges. There will also be six toll plazas, nine flyovers, seven ramp plazas, and 224 underpasses.

Provision has been made for rainwater harvesting every 500 meters after taking a recommendation from the Ground Water Department and 7 lakh trees will be planted along the expressway.

An official said the entire project was divided into six packages, and developers were selected for each of these packages with a time-bound target to complete the project.

The official said most of the project was completed during the Covid-19 pandemic and provided employment to several migrant workers, who had returned to Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi will inaugurate the project on July 16 from Kaitheri village in Orai tehsil of Jalaun district of Bundelkhand.

“This project is important as the government has an ambitious plan to boost the economic activities of the Bundelkhand region with this expressway project. In the next phase, the government is planning to develop industrial hubs along the expressway in Banda and Jalaun districts.
The official said a consultant has already been appointed to conduct the feasibility study.

The Bundelkhand Expressway was built for Rs 14,850 crore.
