The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) senior selection committee is poised to virtually convene on Thursday to finalize the squad for the remaining matches, with indications that Kohli will not feature. The five-match Test series currently stands level at 1-1.
Having skipped the first two Tests due to personal reasons, Kohli’s return remains uncertain as he is yet to communicate his availability for the upcoming match. The BCCI is expected to choose a squad without the former captain and will include him whenever he makes himself available.
A BCCI official stated, “Virat will decide when he wants to make a comeback to the Indian side. He hasn’t informed us till now but whenever he decides to play, he will be included in the team.”
Kohli had previously communicated his need for a break just days before the series commenced, citing personal situations that demanded his attention. The BCCI, respecting his decision, extended support to the star batter.
