Prime Minister Narendra Modi puts the foundation of the Varanasi cricket stadium.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on Saturday.

Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present at the event. Prior to his speech, Roger Binny, president of the BCCI, and Jay Shah, secretary of the BCCI, presented Prime Minister Modi with a signed bat.

PM Modi announced during a refrain of “Har Har Mahadev” that the stadium will be dedicated to “Mahadev.”

This stadium in ‘Mahadev’ city will be dedicated to ‘Mahadev’ himself. The construction of an international stadium in Kashi will benefit the local athletes, he said, adding that the stadium will become the crown jewel of the Purvanchal region.

Parents once reprimanded their children for practicing sports, but this is no longer the case. When sports infrastructure is constructed in a region, it serves as an incentive not only for youthful athletes, but also for the local economy,” he continued.

“Prime Minister Modi will lay the cornerstone for the International Cricket Stadium Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for the first time on behalf of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). I greet Prime Minister Modi on behalf of every sports fan in the state,” said Chief Minister Adityanath.
