PM Modi will inaugurate Mahakal Lok Corridor present

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made elaborate arrangements on Tuesday to inaugurate the first phase of the Mahakaleshwar Temple Extension Mahakal Lok Corridor in Ujjain.

From big TV screens to live telecasts of the event to oil lamps across the railing of the 600-meter-long Hari Phatak bridge leading to the Mahakaleshwar temple, Ujjain is all set for the big event. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called for Diwali-like celebrations across the state to mark the occasion.

The project – Mahakal Maharaj Temple Complex Extension Scheme – is a comprehensive development plan for the expansion, beautification, and decongestion of the temple complex.

The project’s first phase involves the development of the Mahakal Lok Corridor, which has two entranced visitor plazas – Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar. The plaza will have facilities like ticketing kiosks, while a 900-meter-long pedestrian corridor connecting the Mahakal temple with 108 murals and 93 idols of Lord Shiva along the way has been built.

The PM is expected to reach Indore at 5.30 pm and then reach Ujjain by another helicopter, where he will take part in the ‘Sandhya Aarti’ before inaugurating the corridor. After the unveiling, he and the CM will address a ‘general meeting’ at the nearby Karthike Maidan.
