Parakram Diwas: Prime Minister Modi inaugurates a model of the Bose memorial in the Andaman Islands and names 21 islands after Param Vir Chakra recipients.

On Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the independence warrior by stating, “his ideas profoundly impact him.” “Today, on Parakram Diwas, I honour Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recollect his unmatched contribution to the history of India. His passionate opposition to colonial control will be remembered forever. Modi tweeted, “deeply impacted by his ideas, we are trying to realise his vision for India.”

To commemorate the 126th anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth, the Prime Minister electronically unveiled a model of a proposed memorial in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He also named 21 Andaman and Nicobar Islands after Param Vir Chakra recipients.

“The memorial to Netaji in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will inspire patriotism in the hearts of the people,” remarked the Prime Minister. There were requests to release Netaji’s confidential files, and we have complied. The entire nation, from Delhi and Bengal to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is today paying tribute to Netaji and preserving his legacy.”

“The islands named after Param Vir Chakra recipients will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations. People are now visiting the Andaman Islands to understand our history (of the liberation movement),” PTI reported Prime Minister Modi as saying.

Referring to the plan, Home Minister Amit Shah remarked, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to name islands after recipients of the Param Vir Chakra will assure their eternal memory.” The Union Home Minister landed in Port Blair on Sunday evening for a two-day visit to the archipelago, where he is due to address a public gathering on the occasion of Netaji’s 126th birthday and review development initiatives.

Shah will likely raise the national flag and deliver a public address at Netaji Stadium – the same location where the freedom warrior raised the Tricolor on December 30, 1943.

The memorial will be constructed on Ross Island, which in 2018 was called Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep.

An official stated that it will feature a museum, a cable car ropeway, a laser-and-sound show, a guided heritage trail through historical buildings, a themed children’s amusement park, and a lounge. After the virtual unveiling of the model, Prime Minister Modi will address the country.

President Droupadi Murmu also paid tribute to Netaji, describing him as one of Bharat Mata’s greatest sons. “On Parakram Diwas, we honour Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of the greatest sons of Bharat Mata. Netaji exemplifies extraordinary bravery and patriotism. Under his leadership, millions of people joined the fight for India’s independence. Indians will forever be in his debt,” she tweeted.

The Congress also paid Netaji several tributes. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted in Hindi, “Tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, former president of the Indian National Congress, founder of the Azad Hind Fauj, and our idol, on the occasion of his 126th birthday. Netaji’s cry of “Jai Hind” and “Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga” roused everyone to true patriotism.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “My humble condolences to the great liberation fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose courage and patriotism continues to inspire every Indian to protect and preserve the freedom of our beautiful country.”

The Congress tweeted, “Millions of salutations on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a great leader of the liberation fight who fired the spirit of freedom in the hearts of crores of Indians by coining the slogan ‘Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga’.”
