Kejriwal Dismisses ED Notice, Claims BJP Plot to Remove Him from 2024 Campaign

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has triggered a fresh controversy by skipping the Enforcement Directorate’s fourth summons in the excise policy case. Kejriwal dismissed the ED notice as “illegal” and alleged it was part of a BJP conspiracy to arrest him ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Responding to media, Kejriwal claimed the ED has found nothing incriminating despite investigating the case for two years. He accused the agency of harassing people and extracting false statements. Questioning the timing of the fresh summons just months before general elections, Kejriwal alleged the BJP wants to arrest him and prevent him from campaigning.

The Delhi CM said BJP leaders themselves have indicated their plan to arrest him. He alleged the entire ED exercise is aimed at detaining him before elections so that he cannot rally support during the campaign. Kejriwal insisted the agency’s notices lack legal standing, as courts have struck down similarly vague summons in the past.

Kejriwal pointed out the ED has not disclosed any recoveries made during its prolonged probe, like cash, gold or property. He dismissed the summons as politically motivated to dent the AAP’s prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls at a time when the party is expanding nationally.

The Delhi CM had earlier skipped ED summons in the excise policy case citing political vendetta. His latest refusal to appear before the agency signals he remains defiant in the face of allegations. Kejriwal insists the ED case is an underhanded BJP tactic to remove the formidable AAP challenger from the electoral battlefield in 2024.
