Ramkumar participates in the Tata Open Maharashtra’s main draw.

Ramkumar Ramanathan, a tennis player from India, easily advanced to the main draw of the Tata Open Maharashtra after losing his final qualification match here on Sunday. Yuki Bhambri, a fellow countryman, was unable to do the same.

The third seeded Italian Mattia Bellucci was defeated by Ramkumar, a wild card who entered the draw, 6-3, 7-5, in one hour and thirty minutes.

Elias Ymer of Sweden, last year’s semi-finalist, defeated Yuki 1-6, 4-6 in an hour and twelve minutes.

Prajnesh Gunneswaran, Sidharth Rawat, and Aditya Balsekar, three further Indian competitors, had also suffered qualifying round defeats on Saturday.
The Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) is hosting the only ATP 250 tournament in South Asia in collaboration with the state administration.
