Tata Power to elaborate 4MWp solar scheme at Tata Motors’ Pune plant

Tata Motors and Tata Power have accessed into a Power Purchase Agreement( PPA) to elaborate a 4 MWp on-venue solar scheme at Tata Motors’ Pune marketable vehicle manufacturing installation.

This is an important step towards building a resilient and sustainable future. The installation is expected to collectively generate 5.8 million units of electricity, potentially reducing carbon emissions by over one million tonnes. This is equivalent to planting more than 1.6 million teak trees in a lifetime, a release said.

Alok Kumar Singh, Plant Head, Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Facility, Plant, Tata Motors, said that they are continuously striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the net zero emission target. We are exploring various avenues and business models to use renewable energy to promote sustainable business growth. In FY22, the total renewable energy contribution by our CV Pune plant was 32%. With this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to move closer to our goal of developing 100% renewable energy capacity, he added.
