LS Secretariat requests that Rahul Gandhi answer by February 15 to notices regarding remarks about PM Modi.

The Secretariat of the Lok Sabha has requested that Congress member Rahul Gandhi answer by February 15 to complaints from BJP members over his remarks towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the House.

In a letter to Gandhi dated February 10, the secretariat requested that he provide the Lok Sabha speaker with his response to the violation of privilege notices filed against him by BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Pralhad Joshi — also the minister of parliamentary affairs — by February 15.

Dubey and Joshi filed the notices against Gandhi after his Tuesday address in Lok Sabha on the “Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address” in which he spoke on the Hindenburg-Adani dispute.

In their notices to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, both BJP leaders stated that Gandhi’s remarks were unfounded and that he made “disrespectful, unparliamentary, and dishonourable claims.”

Several of Gandhi’s statements were excised by the speaker.
