Former Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, who approved the liquor policy, should also be investigated: Delhi minister

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai demanded the interrogation of former Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Monday, claiming that he was the one who approved the now-rescinded excise policy that led to the detention of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. Rai stated that the CBI’s move was a plot to entrap the Delhi deputy chief minister, as AAP leaders and workers staged protests in other states in response to Sisodia’s arrest for alleged anomalies in the Delhi liquor excise policy.

“The LG (Anil Baijal) was responsible for putting the final stamp on the excise policy documents. Then why is he not being interrogated? If agencies were transparent, they would have also interrogated the LG. Evidently, a plot has been planned to entrap Manish Sisodia, “Rai was cited by PTI as stating.

Rai, who is responsible for the environment and general administration in the AAP-led Delhi government, asserted that the CBI was unable to discover any evidence against Sisodia despite inspecting every area.

“The court has remanded Manish Sisodia to CBI custody for five days, but they will discover nothing. Had Adani not been a close friend of the prime minister, the CBI and ED would have also questioned him “the minister of Delhi claimed.

“If someone is attempting to intimidate us with these raids, we will not stop. We will continue to fight, “he continued.

In the Delhi liquor excise policy case, a special court placed Sisodia in CBI custody for five days, granting the federal agency’s plea to examine the AAP leader about allegations of corruption that his party claims are false. The agency asserted that Sisodia was not cooperating and that he must be confronted with “incriminating material.”

In an effort to refute the CBI’s position, the defence attorneys contended that not providing the requested response cannot be interpreted as a lack of cooperation. In addition, they asserted that the policy was approved by the then-Lt. Governor, who did not object to the alleged modifications.
