Army maintains a strong defensive posture along the LAC, prepared for any contingency: General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Indian Army

Army Chief General Manoj Pande stated on Sunday that the Indian Army is maintaining a strong defence posture along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and is prepared for any situation.

Speaking at the 75th Army Day celebration in Bengaluru, he stated that the northern border region has remained quiet and that steps have been made to maintain peace through established norms and current border systems. He stated that border infrastructure has improved significantly as a result of the combined efforts of the local government and other entities.

Concerning the situation along the country’s western borders, he stated that the ceasefire deal with Pakistan is still in effect at the Line of Control and that ceasefire breaches have greatly decreased. However, the terror infrastructure over the border is intact, he noted.

Observing that various proxy terror organisations are turning to targeted executions in order to stay relevant, he stated that the Army, along with other security forces, is determined to thwart all such attempts.

“Our counter-infiltration grid is regularly foiling infiltration from there,” he said, adding that the security forces’ actions had resulted in a fall in violent parameters.

He stated that the Army is in the process of turning its fighting units into integrated battle groupings that will be more formidable in a war as part of efforts toward force reform and personnel optimization.

“Our goal is to go from a manpower-intensive force to a technology-driven force,” he said.

He further stated that efforts are being made to smuggle weaponry and drugs into the border districts of Jammu and Punjab using drones, but counter-drone jammers and spoofers have been installed.

This was the first time the Army Day parade was staged outside of the nation’s capital.
