Mumbai, January 3: Homegrown automaker Tata Motors today launched the facelifted version of its popular compact SUV Nexon at a starting price of Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated Nexon packs segment-leading safety features, creature comforts and a powerful petrol and diesel engine option under its sculpted hood.
Tata Motors has gone all out to make the Nexon facelift a value for money proposition for customers looking for a safe and feature-rich SUV. Despite its accessible pricing, the 5-star Global NCAP safety rated Nexon packs in features comparable to Land Rover’s Rs 25 lakh+ premium SUV Range Rover Evoque.
According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, “The Nexon has established itself as a very desirable SUV owing to its sporty design and driving dynamics. With the launch of this facelift version, we are offering our customers enhanced style, comfort, and safety.”
On the outside, the Nexon facelift sports a refreshed exterior design. The split LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs give it a modern look. At the rear, wraparound LED tail lights have been incorporated. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned as well.
Step inside, and the cabin feels plusher than before. A flat-bottom steering wheel, electric sunroof, 7-inch floating infotainment system, and auto-dimming IRVM are some highlight features. The Nexon is also big on safety with disc brakes on all four wheels, hill hold assist, electronic stability program and up to 6 airbags.
Under the hood, it continues with the 120hp 1.2L turbo-petrol and 115hp 1.5L turbo-diesel engines. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and AMT. Tata is offering the Nexon in four trims- XZ+, XZA+, XZ+(O), XZA+(O) priced between Rs 8.10 lakh to Rs 12.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Despite its aggressive pricing, the Nexon delivers safety comparable to the Rs 25 lakh+ Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. Both SUVs have scored a full 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests, which speaks volumes about Tata’s engineering capabilities.
