Ayodhya’s New Crown Jewel: PM Modi Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Railway Station

Modern Amenities for Pilgrims and Tourists

The recently inaugurated Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station stands as a testament to India’s commitment to developing modern and symbolic infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new three-storey station building on Sunday during his visit to Ayodhya, just a month ahead of the consecration of the grand Ram Temple in the holy city.

With a price tag exceeding ₹240 crore, the railway station boasts contemporary amenities akin to an airport, including a food plaza, waiting halls, toilets, drinking water stations, escalators, lifts, shops and tourist information.

Its expansive concourse covering 7,200 square metres is the largest in the country. The building features arrival and departure sections, a taxi stand and an extended porch for shelter.

Designed for Accessibility and Sustainability

The station has been designed to be accessible for all people and has earned the coveted Green Building certification for its eco-friendly construction. It houses special facilities like an infant care room and sick room.

Symbolic and Aesthetically Pleasing Design

The regal ‘mukut’ inspired roof structure with a symbolic bow draws inspiration from Lord Ram while glowing pink at night, creating a visually stunning ambience.

Safety and Shelter

Safety is also paramount, with fire exits on all floors. The 140m x 32.6m station building includes a 140m x 12m porch that provides ample shelter for passengers.

Serving Ayodhya’s Pilgrims

As Ayodhya gears up for a defining chapter in its history, the new railway station will serve pilgrims and tourists flocking to the holy city in style and comfort.
