Arvind Kejriwal Defies ED Summons for the 5th Time, Cries Foul Play

Delhi Chief Minister Accuses ED of Illegality in the Ongoing Liquor Policy Case Investigation

Delhi News Live Updates (February 02, 2024): In a bold move, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal once again snubbed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by refusing to appear before them for the fifth consecutive summons related to the Delhi excise policy money laundering case. Kejriwal, labeling the summons as illegal, has escalated his stand against the central probe agency.

In a repeated no-show, the Chief Minister, who has been entangled in the liquor policy controversy, maintained his stance that the ED’s actions are baseless. The ongoing saga took a new turn as Kejriwal, undeterred by the increasing pressure, asserted his innocence and criticized the probe agency for what he claims is a politically motivated investigation.

Meanwhile, L-G Issues Ultimatum for Village Development: In another development, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given District Magistrates a stringent ultimatum. During a review meeting of the ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan,’ Saxena directed DMs to identify and solve five critical issues affecting Delhi villages within two days.

Intensive Field Visits Yield Insights: Acting on Saxena’s instructions, DMs visited villages on two separate occasions—January 7-8 and January 27-28, even spending nights in the communities. Their interactions with residents aimed at gaining firsthand experience and feedback about the prevailing challenges in these areas.

Aligning Projects with Ground Realities: Officials highlighted that the exercise was mandated by the L-G to ensure that the developmental and upgradation projects under the Dilli Gramoday Abhiyan, led by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), align with the actual deficiencies and demands on the ground. The two-day ultimatum underscores the urgency of addressing the identified issues and streamlining developmental efforts in the capital’s villages.
