Covid-19 uptick: After 126 days, India’s daily Covid tally has reached 800.

According to data issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, amid an uptick in Covid instances, India’s single-day count of cases on Saturday topped 800 for the first time in 126 days, while the number of active cases increased to 5,389 cases.

With 843 additional infections, the country’s caseload jumped to 4.46 crore (4,46,94,349). The report showed that four fatalities brought the death toll to 5,30,799 overall.

Kerala was able to reconcile two deaths, whereas Jharkhand and Maharashtra only reported one death each.

Active cases have increased to 5,839, or 0.01 percent of all infections. The health ministry website reports that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.80%.

In India, Covid cases have increased during the flu season.
