She responded to the question about whether or not she’s just a ‘beautiful girl’ wearing provocative clothes to sell films

Bollywood star Anushka Sharma was once put on the spot in an interview for playing a character whose provocative dressing style was allegedly used to promote the movie. She was asked, “You’re wearing tiny clothes, shorts in a place where you wouldn’t dress like that.” Is this the filmmaker’s vision, or is it just Hindi movies that think “beautiful girls sell films”?

Asked if women wearing fewer clothes help sell movies, Anushka responded, “We are talking about Vishal Bhardwaj here, so he would not use such tactics to promote his movie.” The interviewer explained that the poster and the trailer used a photo of her emerging from a pond.

According to Anushka, Bijlii likes to shock people, so her character coming out of the pond wearing shorts fits the character’s personality. “That’s how she is and dresses; that’s her character.” She’s just screaming, “Look at me!” because she’s neglected.”

When Vishal Bhardwaj told me about the character, he said she’d always look like she didn’t belong there. “I’ve never worked with people who used such tactics to sell their films,” Anushka said.

Anushka opened up about her role in Bollyspice and said, “Well, Bijlee is like lightning, as the name suggests. It’s like she’s a spoiled brat. My perception of this character, as an actor, is that she was a bit of an attention seeker. “She does stuff from the ordinary, like getting that tattoo in a pond where buffaloes bathe.”

Recently, Anushka starred in the Netflix movie Qala, and she’ll next be in Chakda Xpress. The film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola was released in 2013 by Imran Khan and Pankaj Kapur.
