Fighter Box Office Collection Day 5: Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone Film Falters on First Monday, Nets Rs 8 Crore

Siddharth Anand's Aerial Actioner Faces a Tough Road Ahead as Collections Dip

In the latest developments at the box office, Siddharth Anand’s much-anticipated aerial-action film, Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, witnessed a significant slump in collections on its first Monday, earning a modest Rs 8 crore.

Despite an initial buzz and a promising extended weekend, Fighter faltered when it encountered its first crucial Monday test. Early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk revealed a sharp decline in earnings for the Hrithik-Deepika starrer, indicating a tough journey ahead for the film.

Trade analysts had high expectations for Fighter’s performance post the Republic Day holiday, anticipating double-digit figures to sustain its momentum. However, with collections hovering under Rs 10 crore, the film faces an uphill battle in maintaining audience engagement.

After its five-day theatrical run, Fighter has amassed a domestic collection of Rs 126.50 crore, with global box office earnings hovering around the Rs 220 crore mark. Despite its respectable numbers, Fighter trails behind Siddharth Anand’s previous blockbuster, Pathaan, which raked in a staggering Rs 524 crore in Hindi, and Hrithik Roshan’s collaboration with the filmmaker in War, which boasted earnings of Rs 318 crore.

Comparing Fighter’s performance to War’s first Monday earnings of Rs 21.50 crore underscores the challenges ahead for Siddharth Anand’s latest offering. The current pace suggests that Fighter may struggle to match the extended first-week collection of War, which stood at Rs 248 crore.

Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi, Fighter emerged as the first major Bollywood release of the year. With a clear window until the release of Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s romantic comedy, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, slated for February 9, Fighter faces the arduous task of maintaining audience interest amidst increasing competition in the weeks ahead.
