On Friday, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the 2025 Club World Cup would feature 32 teams, similar to the current soccer World Cup.
Currently, seven teams compete in the tournament, held every four years and are expected to enhance revenues for the global sports body.
At present, the top teams from every continental competition and the national champions of the hosts compete for the Club World Cup title.

In addition to the new club World Cup format in 2025, FIFA expects revenues of $11 billion over the four-year period between 2022 and 2026.
“This 11 billion figure is without considering the club World Cup (in 2025). “By the end of the four years, we will have made even more revenues,” Infantino stated at a news conference.
Mexico, Canada, and the United States will host the 2026 World Cup.
Aside from the Club World Cup, Infantino announced that Morocco will host the 2023 World Cup between February 1-11 2023 due to the ongoing World Cup in Qatar. Traditionally, the Club World Cup is held in December, but was postponed this year due to the ongoing World Cup. As a result of Friday’s FIFA Council meeting, the decision was made.
