Uttarakhand will become affluent, robust, and self-sufficient, according to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Thursday (March 23) said the government was working hard to make the 2020-2030 period the decade of Uttarakhand and to make it the country’s leading state in every field by 2025.

Addressing a crowd at an event marking the one-year anniversary of his administration, Dhami expressed his gratitude to the state’s mothers, sisters, elders, and children, saying that they had received blessings and abundant affection from the respected people of the state as it was the first time in Uttarakhand that the people had given their blessings to a government for the second time.

He promised that his government would make every attempt to live up to the faith and confidence placed in it by the general public.

“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are dedicated to making Uttarakhand a premier state in every field by 2025… If late Atal Bihari Vajpayee established Uttarakhand, PM Modi is attempting to improve it,” he remarked.

Dhami stated that the world has recognised and accepted India’s might and strength and that the G20 summit chairmanship is a reflection of India’s expanding power. He also expressed great delight in the fact that Uttarakhand is hosting three G20 sessions.

Speaking on his government’s activities over the last year, he stated that it had taken strict action against the recruitment mafia and that more than 80 people had been imprisoned for rigging various competitive exams.

“We have enacted the country’s most strict anti-copying law so that no one even considers defrauding the youth.” Exams are held in perfect transparency and on time. Three examinations were successfully completed. Additional examinations are being held in accordance with the current calendar. Before the elections, we promised a Unified Civil Code and received numerous blessings from Janata Janardhan. The group formed for the Unified Civil Code is producing the draught after receiving ideas from public officials, diverse organisations, institutions, and ordinary citizens, among others.”

He went on to say that the state recently introduced a 30% horizontal reservation scheme for women and that Uttarakhand was one of the first states in the country to implement the new National Education Policy in school education and higher education. He also stated that a new sports policy had been implemented to promote sports and athletes in the state.

Dhami stated that the state administration responded to the Joshimath land subsidence tragedy by ensuring no loss of life through efficient management and fast relief and rescue activities with the participation of the local people. “The state government also had the central government’s full cooperation in this task.” In due course, those afflicted were relocated to relief camps. At every step, the state government and administration stood behind the evacuees. The job of distributing compensation continues indefinitely. “In this budget, we have provided a provision of 1000 crores,” he remarked.

On the other hand, the Congress declared Dhami’s first year in office a total disaster. According to a statement published by the party’s state president, Karan Mahara, there is no such achievement of the state BJP government that the people of the state can be proud of.

“In its one-year mandate, the BJP government has done nothing for the benefit of impoverished labourers, farmers, women, and the unemployed, other than misleading the public and fostering inflation, corruption, and unemployment… The state’s pride has suffered as a result of the state’s deteriorating law and order condition. The recruitment scandals in several state government departments have revealed that the BJP government has been mired in corruption throughout its one-year mandate,” he said.
