Aji project’s first phase gets Rs 171 cr approval from the government

The STATE government approved in principle Rs.171.95 crore to fund the first phase of Aji riverfront development, which will include further development of Ramnath Mahadev Temple, Rajkot Mayor Pradip Davy announced Friday.

The mayor stated in an official statement that Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), had applied for Rs187 crore grant to fund the first phase of the Aji riverfront project.

The first phase will include the development of a 1-kilometre-long stretch of river near Ramnathpara Mahadev temple and the further development of Ramnathpara Mahadev Temple.

According to the release, the mayor stated that the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Yojana gave in-principle approval for the allocation of Rs171.95 crore to Ramnathpara Mahadev’s temple and Aji river front development. This will give the city a unique identity.

The RMC plans to build a riverfront along the 10-kilometre-long stretch of Aji River, starting at the Aji bridge on National Highway 27 in the eastern outskirts to the Aji bridge on Morbi Bypass Road to the north-western part of the city.
